Position Title:  ABC Pre-Kindergarten Behavior Intervention Specialist

Department:    Adkins Pre K Center       

Reports To:     Program Director       

Contract:         2017/2018 School Year (190 day contract)

Closing:           04/25/2017 or until filled

SUMMARY: The Behavior Intervention Specialist will address students’ undesired behaviors with positive behavior support. Provides techniques/strategies that help students become more socially and academically successful. Provides behavior intervention support to students and staff in development of behavior plans and provides classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides an instructional program complete with PBIS, Social Emotional and Conscious Discipline. Includes strategies designed to meet the social, emotional and behavioral needs of all students.

• Visits classes frequently and serves as a resource person providing individual help to teachers and students.

• Encourages and models good relationships between pupil and staff, school and community, school and central office/administration.

• Coordinates the total Pre-K behavioral support program with participating schools.

• Maintains proper discipline and promotes principles of good citizenship.

• Implements and models social skill development techniques, including social stories, peer facilitation and peer training for the purpose of assisting in achieving academic, social, emotional and behavioral goals.

• Follows safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and District policy.

• Works with staff to develop behavior plans and keep accurate data as appropriate.

• Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

• Performs all duties as outlined by JNPSD school board policies and/or Federal and State guidelines.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field required. Experience in Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support Strategies or Conscious Discipline highly desired.  A licensed teacher in Special Education, K-4 or K-6 preferred.
