SUMMARY: The teacher/coach is responsible for promoting the student/athlete philosophy both during the academic instruction of the classroom and total athletic program. The teacher/coach must demonstrate strong content knowledge in their academic teaching area as well as a climate of “respect” to ensure a strong academic environment. The candidate should demonstrate an attitude of preparation for the classroom and field (court) to maximize the total student academic learning and their athletic ability. The teacher/coach must demonstrate leadership in student/player development of these attributes: sportsmanship, integrity and character. Candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree with a license in the academic area to teach and a coaching endorsement. Courses in the organization and administration of athletic programs. Teachers with experience are valued; however, no prior experience is required.

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Ability to recruit and build a team and create an environment in which the team can use its skills and abilities to their maximum potential. Ability to interpret data and strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
